The Hartman Company Newsletter

Issue: May 2006
Topic: Hot Topics for the Hot Summer

Dear Hartman Company Newsletter subscriber,

There is certainly a sense that big changes are taking place in this industry.
For those of us that have been working regularly with newer technologies, it
seems difficult to conceive that major systems are implemented so far below
the level of operating efficiencies that are easily attainable with modern
technologies. Integrating network services such as automatic demand response
and system performance reporting are just the latest in the network
applications owners are beginning to expect in their new and upgraded systems.
The thought that many HVAC systems continue to use the control network only to
maintain outdated pressure and temperature setpoint control and provide access
for operator oversight - as they did a decade ago - seems entirely wasteful
considering today’s concern about energy resources and climate change.

For those who want to obtain higher levels of system performance and are ready
to start at the basics of improved system control, this Thursday, May 11th at
2:00 PM EDT, Mr. Hartman will join Ben Erpelding of the San Diego Regional
Energy Office and Michael Ivanovich, the Editor of HPAC Magazine on a free
Webcast focused on improving the electrical efficiency of variable speed
systems. To register for this free event please go to:

key=2BEE045733FFDF3D51CAE727F7413497&partnerref=hpachtml1&
referrer=&sourcepage=register

If you join in on this Webcast you will have an opportunity to ask questions
at its conclusion. I hope it will be useful for those who are looking to employ
newer control technologies and leverage significantly improved electrical energy
performance from HVAC systems.

Another new resource focusing on both the technology and implementation process
changes that are required to improve HVAC system performance is available in a
three part series Mr. Hartman has just completed for automatedbuildings.com.
